Oracle Spatial

SIG Chair : Jonathan Williams
SIG Deputy Chairs : Jamie Justham

The Oracle Spatial SIG provides a focal point for existing and potential users of Oracle Spatial and Oracle Locator as tools to store and manipulate location data within an enterprise environment.

These tools are used by public and private sector organisations to integrate large volumes of diverse business data to support their business and policy objectives.

The aim of the meetings are to provide a healthy balance between the requirements of the business manager, who wishes to better understand the business benefits of a spatially enabled environment and the user and developer community, who wish to discuss the tools and their integration to their business processes. The group covers the integration of third party products, application server technology and portal technology for the analysis and dissemination of spatial information.

Objectives

  • To promote awareness and encourage greater use of the Oracle Spatial and Oracle Locator
  • To provide user presentations on areas of interest e.g. Topology, Performance Tuning, Spatial Data Dissemination and Systems Integration
  • To provide workshops or forums for members to meet and share experiences and to provide open discussion with Oracle, the User Group and other users and developers
  • To encourage contributions and feedback to enhance the group
  • To provide an opportunity for third party solutions providers to present complementary products and services. (We aim to arrange for demonstration areas to be available at our Special Interest Group Meetings.)

The Oracle Liaison assigned to this SIG is Mike Turnill.

If you are interested in presenting at a future Oracle Spatial SIG Meeting, please contact either Michelle or the Spatial SIG Chair Jonathan Williams.
