The database is not working properly! Fix it! This is often heard by DBAs and, as is often the case, it is not the database that is the problem but it is merely showing symptoms caused by other underlying issues. In this session I will show 2 cases were the root cause was the network and the efforts made to prove to the client that the database was not the problem. The 2 issues were intermittent problems, one over a database link and one about the shipping of archive logs.
