I decided I would “just” upgrade my Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional qualification to 12c. There’s only a single exam to take and I’m only moving up one version so it should have been simple, shouldn’t it? It turns out that it wasn’t anywhere near as simple as I imagined. So, why is it so difficult? There’s only one exam to sit (1Z0-060 “Upgrade to Oracle Database 12c”), the same exam can be used to upgrade Oracle qualifications to 12c from any version between 7 and 11g, there’s a full list of exam topics on the Oracle University website, there are a number of practice tests available, there are several books available to help with learning and revising the topics and the exam is in the same multiple-choice format as all of the previous OCP exams. What’s the problem? This presentation follows my struggles (so far) to pass this single exam to upgrade my certification and I attempt to shed light on the things that have helped, where I have gone wrong and how I am planning my next attack.
