The advent of low code environments such as Application Builder Cloud Service (ABCS) allows users and developers to rapidly build and rollout applications. Indeed, the marketing theory goes as far as suggesting the tools allow business stakeholders to control their IT destiny. But what is the long term impact of these tools: promotion of agile business aligned IT, or a long term architectural headache producing technical debt and integration nightmares? I will demo ABCS to show how easy it is to adopt, and then discuss the wider IT and architecture implications of such tools, learning from past attempts to involve business stakeholders in IT delivery.
