Why did you first engage with the user group?
I started my involvement with the UKOUG when I first started working on Oracle e Business Suite systems in 1999 and found my organization was a member of the UKOUG.
What value did you find through UKOUG?
The immediate value I have personally gained from UKOUG membership is to gain and maintain a better understanding of the Oracle products we use and the opportunity to network and collaborate with other users of Oracle products.
What about UKOUG membership has surprised you?
The most recent surprise has been the high usage and value of the HCM Public Sector Customer Forum List Server. There are significant UK legislation changes implementing this year which impact on Payroll and it has been invaluable to see how other users are tacking the same challenges and share solutions and approaches.
Is there a specific example where engaging with UKOUG has had a direct beneficial result for you and your company?
The opportunity to network with other users on current legislative changes affecting Payroll including Pension Auto Enrolment (PAE) and Real Time Information (RTI) has allowed us to understand how best to use the Oracle products to meet our legislative requirements and to facilitate a “rich” joint dialogue with Oracle Development, Support and Product Management. This has allowed the UK Public Sector HCM users the opportunity to present a coherent customer sector view to Oracle.
What are the top three reasons you would recommend membership to another Oracle user?
The top three reasons I would give for recommending UKOUG membership to another Oracle user are;
• Understanding of Oracle products
• Opportunity to network with other users
• Opportunity to influence Oracle

If your organisation makes any significant use of Oracle products membership of UKOUG is almost certainly worthwhile and certainly worth considering.
