There’s never been a better time to join the IT sector or to employ new talent.
- The UK IT and Telecommunications industry is growing at twice the UK average
- This means the sector needs 129,000 new people a year
- 18% of this growth is forecast to come from school leavers and graduates (e-skills UK).
UKOUG is committed to helping students understand the range of opportunities available to them in the Oracle ecosystem.
Employers struggle to find candidates with the appropriate skill set and entry level job-seekers find it hard to work out the right path for them and how to take the first step onto the career ladder.
Oracle seed funding has enabled UKOUG to develop this initiative bringing together IT employers from the partner and customer communities to look at how best to attract the next generation of Oracle professionals.
Our work with higher education establishments, like Birmingham City University, has led to our volunteers being invited in as guest speakers to educate the next generation of IT professionals.
We’re working with Oracle Academy on how to mobilise our volunteer base to assist in their ‘Ready to Work’ programs.
More recently we have been engaging with recruiting organisations, including Oracle, to understand and identify opportunities in the Next Generation cycle.
