We held our first Next Gen event at Birmingham City University in 2014 to launch the initiative and to help us understand the challenges students face, from the students' point of view.
"The Univerity was delighted to host the first Next Gen event. We have some incredibly talented young people at the University and in the region and are keen put them in touch with organisations where they can thrive. We want to do all we can to get students onto the career ladder and a perfect way to achieve this is via Next Gen, where students can submit their CV for a range of employers to view.” Mak Sharma, Faculty of Technology Head of School, Birmingham City University
“I’d like to congratulate UKOUG on this Next Gen initiative. We have a skills shortage and bringing young people into your community is a great way to help address that shortage and we look forward to supporting you on this going forward”. Caroline Stuart, Oracle
“Next Gen is a fantastic initiative from UKOUG that gives students the opportunity to hear about what employers are looking for and have the chance to meet them face to face in order to make informed decisions about their career. The UKOUG centralised repository of student CVs will also be a great facility for employers to ascertain the capabilities of student candidates.” Carl Dudley, Oracle Professor of Database Technology, University of Wolverhampton
"Next Gen is a great concept that we were pleased to be a part of. As an ambitious organisation, we are constantly seeking the best talent to grow and develop. We had some excellent conversations with some really bright individuals who we will be following up with." Phil Wilson, VP Business Development & Alliances, Inoapps
