Information Architect Director, Oracle
Tell us about your role in a couple of sentences:
Working in the leading edge of Business Analytics & Big Data, I work with customers to architect information management solutions across all their data.
Why did you first get into IT?
Computers fasinated me from an early age when there wasn't many of them around. I decided to go in for an A-Level in computing as computers seemed to be the way of the future and got into programming almost straight away.
What advice would you give to people, especially women looking for a role in IT?
Just go for it! Find an area that suits you whether its programming, business analysis, data science - whatever makes you excited when you read about a new discovery or a new application of IT.
Have you encountered any issues with being a woman in IT?
Very early in my career I got a few comments but I couldn't tell you if it was because I was female or young! However, I just did the best I could and the majority of people see my skills first and foremost.
Any final comments?
Be passionate in what you do, the rest will follow.
