Name: Loubna Hadid Loubna Hadid Open Insight Women in IT

Organisation: Opening Insight

Job Title: Senior Partner Vice President Delivery

Tell us about your role in a couple of sentences:
I co-founded Opening Insight 11 years ago and never looked back. Today, I lead my team of consultants in the USA & UK on PeopleSoft implementations and upgrades from inception till delivery.

Why did you first get into IT?:
I actually started my career in Finance in Banking and found myself propelled into managing a mini PeopleSoft implementation. I liked the challenges, the dynamism, the problem solving attitude and the continuous skills improvements needed. I absolutely loved it. I loved the cycle of inception, development, delivery and training users. It's fulfilling to be able to build a system.

What advice would you give to people, especially women looking for a role in IT?:
In my case it was to not take "NO" for an answer. You must have a "Can Do" attitude. Don't feel intimidated. During the first four years I was the only female in the Tech team. IT is very rewarding and is fast pace so those people who are looking to challenge themselves, it's the perfect place to be.

Have you encountered any issues with being a woman in IT?:
Undoubtedly, IT is still a male dominated arena but being a woman has been an advantage as opposed to a hurdle in my experience. For a start, one stands out of the crowd. But in essence, we're judged on what we can deliver and our expertise; that's what counts and what my focus was. Anything else is background noise.

Any final comments?:
IT is a very nomination for a massive industry. It does not necessarily mean that people sit in front of a computer and write code 24/7. It's diverse, fulfilling and exciting.
