Tell us about your role in a couple of sentences:
Management of high profile IT projects in Financial, Health Care and Government areas.
The transition to project management has happened smoothly after more than 17 years of technical experience as a System Architect, Database Designer and System Analyst.
As a president of the Bulgarian Oracle User Group my inspiration is to establish an appropriate environment for the Oracle Community in Bulgaria to share ideas and knowledge.
Why did you first get into IT?:
I have been naturally inspired by my parents – both of them computer specialists, pioneers in the IT profession.
Maths was my favorite and strongest subject in school and I chose to continue with it at University. But after my first year at University, I realised that my passion was to build applications that help organisations and people in their everyday life. Moving to Computer Science was one of the best decisions I have taken in my life.
What advice would you give to people, especially women looking for a role in IT?
IT is a challenging profession; it makes your life interesting and innovative.
Choose the right place based on your preferences and how deep you want to get into the technical matter.
And always have in mind that IT projects need women - there are plenty of activities that are better performed by women.
Have you encountered any issues with being a woman in IT?
No, never. In my entire IT career I have encountered only respect and collegiality.
Clever men love to cooperate with women. And men in IT cannot be other than clever.
Any final comments?
Follow your intuition, trust your knowledge, be curious and enjoy!
