Are you a UKOUG partner or end user?
What skills and strengths do you feel you would bring to UKOUG?
I have worked as a volunteer for the user group for the last 30 years in a number of capacities including director and Appointments Group lead. I have helped the user group through both exciting and difficult times and I feel that this experience will be valuable in taking the user group forward.
What have been the highs and lows of your business / IT / Oracle / Career?
- I have achieved Oracle ACE Director status.
- Delivered best paper at conferences.
- Awarded DBA of the year.
- A low point connected with user group activity was the loss of the European Oracle User Group (I was a director) as an effective organisation.
What have you already achieved/ contributed to within the Oracle community?
Apart from what is stated above I have acted as SIG Chair for a number of years, and also guided the SIG portfolio. I have presented papers at UK and international user group conferences over 100 times and had numerous articles published in User Group magazines.
Please provide a manifesto of no more than 300 words describing why you would be suited to the role:
I believe that I am able to take a balanced view on the workings of UKOUG and its board of directors and have much experience in the way in which the user group has adapted to changing circumstances.
What improvements would you make to UKOUG?
I would like to see more members getting involved in the running of the user group at all levels and an increased focus on topics and features that are currently affecting Oracle users in the way in which they run their systems.
