What skills and strengths do you feel you would bring to UKOUG?

I have 25 years experience in the IT community and 23 years experience with Oracle. I work in an Advisory Capacity and want to use my skills to influence a new view of working for the UKOUG . Involved
 
What have been the highs and lows of your business / IT / Oracle / Career?

  • Low points :watching large sales drop away due to politics due to rapacious vendors
  • High Points : winning large sales due to everything falling into place

What have you already achieved/ contributed to within the Oracle community?

Spoken several times both UK and Ireland , been working with Oracle product managers on new areas such as Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Platforms and SAAS.
 
Please provide a manifesto of no more than 300 words describing why you would be suited to the role:

I would be suited to the role as I provide corporate governance to several internal teams currently. In addition I am a lead Solutions Architect and Principal Consultant in my day job. With these skills at the moment I am responsible for driving and influencing their direction through the selection of good members of the team. In that role I hope to provide guidance and emotional quotient in feeding towards the work of the Appointments community.
 
What improvements would you make to UKOUG?

  • We must stay relevant to the user base
  • We must create conversations with and between our members - we must appeal more to the User Groups ; being able to create the spaces in UKOUG where we are the main forum for those conversations!
