Tech13 - Paper Selection

Tech13 - Paper Selection

5 August 2013

Tech13: 4 days incorporating 232 sessions including presentations, deep-dives and hands-on labs across many themes exploring all aspects of Oracle technology.

Why 4 days? We are running some exceptional content on Sunday – the agenda will be launched in September.

More than 540 abstracts were submitted from which we have had to select the sessions to be run at Tech13. We have therefore had to reject almost 60% of the submissions made.

Our goal is to deliver a richer, innovative experience for our delegates covering all aspects of the Oracle technology product stack. In order to achieve this we have tried to:

  • Maintain the historic quality of speakers
  • Encourage new speakers covering new and innovative topics
  • Increase the share of end-user presentations

Of the 545 submissions, 220 were submitted by a total of 59 partners; however, more than a third (76) of those submissions came from just 5 partners. It is therefore understandable that many people will be disappointed that their presentations are being held in reserve or have been rejected.

Although, given the numbers, hopefully everyone will understand why we have found it necessary to limit the number of presentations from any one company this year. The committee did not set out with this intention, but it is clearly testament to our success in attracting submissions and also to the fact that you, our members, clearly want to see a vibrant, invigorating Tech13.

Where it has been necessary to restrict the sessions from any one company we have asked the company and those individuals that made the submissions to help us to decide which of their highly rated sessions they would like on the agenda.

If your paper wasn't selected, why not write an article for our flagship magazine, Oracle Scene? Email your article to
