Introduction to Special Interest Groups & the Oracle SIG Liaison
Published: 28.11.2011
Many different communities within the UK and Ireland User Groups have formed a Special Interest Group for their community.
Each SIG has a committee consisting of elected volunteers from that community. Committee members are from either Customer or Partner organisations – their organisation must be a current member of the UK / Ireland User Group. The committee includes a Chair (and usually a Vice-Chair).
The User Group office, i.e. permanently employed staff, will allocate one of their Project Officers to each SIG committee.
The other key member of the committee is the Oracle Liaison i.e. an Oracle UK or Oracle Ireland employee appointed to work with the SIG. For some SIGs, there are two Oracle SIG Liaisons e.g. for a newly formed SIG or one with a diverse remit.
Appointment of a new Oracle SIG Liaison will be led by the Oracle Liaison Manager who will involve relevant Oracle Lines of Business in the decision.
(There is also an Oracle UKOUG Conference Lead role – please see separate document.)
Introduction to User Group Conferences & the Oracle User Group Conference Lead
Published: 28.11.2011
The UK and Ireland Oracle User Groups hold a number of conferences annually.
As part of the support that Oracle UK and Oracle Ireland give to the User Groups for each conference, an Oracle Conference Lead is appointed. Depending on the size of the conference, there may be two joint Leads.
The appointment of the Oracle Conference Lead(s) will be led by the Oracle User Group Liaison Manager who will involve the relevant Oracle Lines of Business in the decision.
A Conference Lead is likely to be one of the Oracle SIG Liaisons whose SIG community takes part in that conference. Oracle Marketing teams are also an important source of Conference Leads.
The Conference Lead will co-ordinate Oracle’s input to the Conference and maximise the value of the Conference - to attendees, Oracle and the User Group.
Each Conference Lead will have regular communication with the Oracle User Group Liaison Manager.
(There is also an Oracle SIG Liaison role overview – please see separate document.)
