The importance of being… Code Current

The importance of being… Code Current

16 July 2013

A substantial amount of time has passed for many JD Edwards EnterpriseOne customers since they last upgraded. Whilst one could argue a case for a strong return on their initial JD Edwards investment, DWS examine the fact that significantly more effort will be required to upgrade to the latest release with each passing year. This will have major cost implications for the customer at upgrade time.

Due to the significant improvements made by Oracle around the simplification of the ESU (Electronic Software Updates) installation process as well as making ESUs themselves much smaller, the process of staying code-current today is not as onerous as it has been in the past. Once a customer has made the decision to upgrade and has scoped out the necessary effort to perform the upgrade, DWS believe strongly that the customer should factor in a long-term strategy to remain code-current after they go live on the new release.
