Between July and October 2013 a volunteer project team, led by Fiona Martin, Member Advocate Chair, undertook a significant piece of work to review our existing products and services and come up our plan for 2015. The volunteer strategy project team was supported by a feedback loop with all our SIG committees and the experienced team in the office.
The good news is that 2015 will see an evolution of our existing offerings and give all our members more opportunity to get involved meet other Oracle users to learn from each other and share best practice. Some of the highlights from the strategy project output and things to watch out for next year are:
Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
UKOUG SIGs are at the heart of our communities; they enable a feedback loop to Oracle and differentiate UKOUG from other education and enablement options available. In 2015 we will look to further evolve our SIGs with the opportunity for some SIGs (as defined by committees) to co-locate in order to deliver improved networking, content sharing and broader agendas for our members.
UKOUG has to address the needs of all our applications communities to help them understand their options as they look to plan their applications journey. All our applications communities have a thirst for knowledge of the new Oracle Cloud applications. To better enable all communities we have created applications innovation as a UKOUG initiative throughout 2015. We will look to bring together our applications community SIGs for a series of co-located events focused on next generation applications throughout the year, starting with HCM in Q1, ERP in Q2 and an Applications Technology Day in Q3. Conferences & Exhibitions
In January 2014 we took a decision to co-locate our flagship conferences. The team are recommending that we continue with this strategy in 2015 and beyond. We are really pleased that the JDE community plan to co-locate with Apps in 2015.
In 2014 your feedback tells us we have run some really valued one day events. The events have a number of different formats, including regional (Ireland and Scotland), Pre-packaged and Oracle events (Real World Performance and EMEA PeopleSoft Roadshow) and subject specific (Licence Management, Operating Systems, Servers and Storage). As they are not a core member benefit, each event has its own business case and project plan with input from a team of volunteers. We plan to continue with all or our one-off events in 2015. I hope this article gives you a taste for what’s to come from UKOUG in 2015. There is much more information on our products and services strategy and the discussions that the team had contained in the output document available for download here: www.ukoug.org/other/strategy-project/sig-committee-webinar
