What is UKOUG Strategy Project?
The UKOUG Strategy Project is our annual review of member products and services where we take the opportunity to consider our focus for the coming year. We take into account a number of inputs such as post event reviews, feedback from our Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and this year some of the items from the external report completed by Karen Jones (management consultant) for the Board in January 2016.
Who takes part in the Strategy Project?
We form a project team of volunteers representing all our communities. This year we held a full one day workshop with the core team to brainstorm some of the larger items for consideration such as how closely we should align with Oracle’s strategy and to consider the role of User Groups for Oracle Cloud customers. The Strategy review processes also include all our elected SIG committees.
Why is it such an important project?
Our annual strategy project is key to ensuring that we remain a leading Oracle User Group. It is the opportunity to consider key themes such as relevance and innovation and it is our chance to ensure we proactively think about how we will continue to retain all our members whilst attracting new ones across all of our diverse communities.
Where are we now?
Following the final rounds with our SIG committees, the final version of our strategy output will be reviewed by the wider team during October before final publication and FY17 business planning and budget setting.
What can you expect from UKOUG in 2017?
One thing is clear – quality relevant content is key to all our members – so we’ve been working with our SIG committees to optimise the calendar, review the opportunities for co-location and are looking to bring back the Northern Technology Day to provide this for our Tech members. In the Apps space we continue to consider the journey to Cloud and build on our successful webinar series. You will also continue to see our quality one day events – regional offering in Scotland and Ireland, those which are subject specific such as Peoplesoft, EPM and Licence Management, all leading up to our flagship conferences in December. So more of the same – but better – with the aim to attract even more members who have maybe not taken part with UKOUG offerings before!
2017 is going to be a great year for UKOUG. Make sure you take a look at our calendar and register early to fully utilise your membership benefits.
