London, 17th March 2011:
Following the UK Oracle User Group (UKOUG) board of elections and subsequent board meeting, UKOUG are pleased to announce that Debra Lilley, UKOUG Deputy Chair and Oracle Alliance Director at Fujitsu, is now the new Chairman of the user group. Debra has been an active member of the user group for 9 years. When she first joined the board, she did her best to ensure that she did the role justice by studying for and achieving Chartered Director status with the Institute of Directors. In that time Debra has become an international ambassador for UKOUG and an avid promoter of Oracle’s Fusion Applications.
Debra also holds the position of Product Development Committee Chair at the International Oracle User Community where she leads the global user group input into Oracle Development, most notably their Fusion Applications. She is an ACE Director with Oracle’s Technology Network program and she has recently added an advisory role at Constellation Research Group to her army of responsibilities. Debra has replaced the current Chairman Ronan Miles, Director of Collaborative Services at BT who has held the position for 11 years.
“I have had a great time at UKOUG, it’s been a great opportunity. I wish the best of luck to the new leadership to take UKOUG into the future”, former UKOUG Chairman, Ronan Miles
Debra’s first outing as UKOUG Chairman will be at UKOUG’s annual Irish conference later this month.
“Chairman of UKOUG is a challenge I am looking forward to carrying on the great work we have done under Ronan’s leadership, with the help of Lisa Dobson, Deputy Chairman and the rest of our board, and to introduce the changes we need to keep pace. The Oracle community is changing but our desire to serve the community has not diminished.
I would like to publicly thank Ronan for all he has done for UKOUG, and as a mentor to me. I would also like to thank everyone who has helped me on my journey, from Bert Spencer, previous Board member who told me I would one day be the first lady Chairman, to every Director, volunteer and staff member I have had the honour of working with, and to you the community for your encouragement.
Finally I ask each of you reading this, if you use Oracle in your organisation, are you members of UKOUG? If the answer is no, then please let us know why? When budgets are tight, user group education is very affordable and the sharing of best practice can be priceless. We all need to get the most out of our investments in Oracle Technology and we can help. If you are a member do you volunteer? By presenting at an event, being part of a community committee or simply volunteering your time, your Oracle investment pays so much dividend, as you are always learning.”
