I've been working with the Oracle Database for 22+years now, staring out with version 5 of the Database and Forms 2.3. Most of my work now is on Predictive Analytics, Adanced Analytics, R, SAS and acting as an architecture for a number of companies. I also do some teaching and training. I'm also an Oracle ACE Director and I've published a book with Oracle Press title 'Predictive Analytics using Oracle Data Miner'.
What are your interests (in work and outside)?
Most of my spare time is taken up with wood carving, wood sculpure and furniture making, and spending time out and about with the family.
When did you first start volunteering with UKOUG?
I'm not sure as it is so long ago now :-)
Why did you want to become a volunteer?
I attended my first UKOUG Annual Conference back in 1998 and I've been lucky in that I've attended most of them since. I got to learn so so much from this annual conference. I valued and respected the people who shared so much with the community to help us all learn and develop in our careers. After getting so much out of the community I wanted to give something back. I started to present and I also got involved in re-launch of the OUG in Ireland a few years ago. I'm also the editor of Oracle Scene that is published by UKOUG.
What volunteering activities do you undertake?
Editor of Oracle Scene, Co-Chair of Business Analytics SIG in Ireland, Committee member of OUG Ireland Annual Conference, Presenting at SIGs and various conferences in UK, Ireland, Europe, USA, and others.
