DOCXManaging Production Web & Java Applications: Unifying Developers and Operators

Published: 22.12.2016 - This document is restricted to members

Footage from Frances Zhao Perez & James Kao's DevOps Keynote presentation at Tech16:

As continuous delivery pushes the pace of development and deployment ever faster, IT organisations are faced with an increasing need to move quickly and shorten the gap between developers and operators. The time when different component owners hoarded operational data and sought only to exonerate themselves from blame has passed. In this session, we will discuss how companies deal with the operational challenges of faster delivery, both for developers and administrators. We will focus on Oracle solutions to quickly provision environments for DevOps, and how to easily monitor and manage a workload with cloud support, both public and hybrid.

As Director of Product Management for Oracle Fusion Middleware Management and Cloud Solution, Frances Zhao-Perez is responsible for developing and delivering the products in a few major areas, including Oracle Fusion Middleware SOA management, IdM management, etc, Middleware as a Service Private Cloud, Oracle Hybrid Cloud, Bringing PaaS services into Oracle Cloud Machine, Oracle Maximum Available Architecture and Cloud DR. Frances has over 16 years of industry experience in product development, and product management. She has been a frequent speaker for Oracle Open World, JavaOne, Oracle Open World Japan, China, UKOUG, DOAG, IOUG, and other industry conferences. Ms. Zhao-Perez holds MBA and M.S. in Computer Science.

After troubleshooting a system with CPU-overload, we found it was mainly due to too many PL/SQL function-calls. The result was some interesting investigation into PL/SQL functions, when to use and when use turns into AB-USE of functions.
