Building on 3NF design this session will take a pragmatic view on dimensional modelling and present both the strengths and weaknesses of the modelling technique that underpins star schema design and many OLAP technologies.

PPTOPSS Introduction and best practices

Published: 22.02.2010 - This document is restricted to members

Companies understand the necessity of including security as part of the development process, but they face challenges in implementing security in the various layers of multi-tiered Web applications. What is needed is a framework that provides a means to abstract security, privacy, audit, and identity management from the application and offer integrated services that insulate developers from the intricacies of tasks not directly related to application development. This presentation introduces Oracle Platform Security Services (OPSS), a framework that provides enterprise product development teams, systems integrators (SIs), and independent software vendors (ISVs) with a standards-based, portable, integrated, enterprise-grade security framework for Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE) and Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) applications. OPSS provides an abstraction layer in the form of standards-based application programming interfaces (APIs) that insulate developers from security and identity management implementation details. With OPSS, developers don’t need to know the nitty-gritty of cryptographic key management or interfaces with user repositories and other identity management infrastructures. In this presentation, we first review the main application security concepts and then delve into how security is provided as a service through a set of open APIs. This presentation is intended for developers, architects, and security administrators.
