Another Successful UKOUG JD Edwards Conference

Another Successful UKOUG JD Edwards Conference

20 November 2012

Last week our annual JD Edwards Conference took place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Madejski Stadium, Reading.

“Last year’s JD Edwards Conference was upbeat; this year has stepped up another notch.” Rob Hardgrave, Ibstock Brick, attendee

The two day event kicked off with an opening keynote from Dominic Sumpter - Oracle , Lyle Ekdahl, Group Vice President General Manager - JD Edwards, John Schiff, Vice President - JD Edwards Business Development, where they showcased the newest JD Edwards collection including JD Edwards 9.1 .The five stream agenda packed with JD Edwards content gave attendees a great variety of choice when it came to learning and expanding their knowledge on JD Edwards.

"Another fantastic conference, organised by UKOUG, keenly attended by over 300 delegates with an array of new Partners and established Partners contributing to the JD Edwards family. It is my intention to focus my mid-market sales team on JD Edwards as the core solution for ERP requirements. The innovation that the Denver DEV team have accomplished in the last 12 months has been staggering and it is a clear differential from our competition…" Dominic Sumpter, Oracle

During the breaks, delegates had the chance to network and visit the lively exhibition hall. The DWS stand included a Burmese Python and a bearded dragon that both attracted great interest and perfect photo opportunities. Attendees and members of staff were also wowed at the velos-IT stand which included a fantastic magician, Ryan Davidson who will also be joining us in December for our UKOUG 2012 Conference.

“Looking to expand our presence outside of the United States the UKOUG JD Edwards Conference was definitely worth it. The UKOUG staff were instrumental in establishing our presence and we were pleasantly surprised at the level of participation and enthusiasm shown by the delegates. Overall the conference was well worth the effort and we look forward to a continued partnership with the UK JD Edwards Community”. RapidReconciler, exhibitors and sponsors.

Tuesday evening was rounded off by our guest speaker Caspar Berry who gave a brilliantly engaging presentation about risk. The presentation was followed by a casino themed social, sponsored by Q Software and InsightSoftware.com as well as happy hour drinks sponsored by Spinnaker Support. The social gave delegates the chance to put into practise what they had learnt about taking risks, as well as having the novelty of gambling with guilt free play money.

Day two provided delegates with even more insightful JD Edwards presentations ranging from live demos, user experiences and roundtables. The conference concluded with a game card draw where lucky delegates won prizes such as Kindles, iPods and champagne generously donated by our exhibitors.

David Rowntree closed the conference with some final thoughts. As David will now be stepping down as JD Edwards committee chairman he was presented with various train artefacts and a bottle of red wine from UKOUG and the JD Edwards committee for his hard work and contribution to JD Edwards throughout the years.

Photos from the event can be found on our Facebook page and presentations can be found here.

“I would like to thank David Rowntree for his significant contribution to his role as the chairman of the JD Edwards committee and I am pleased that David will continue to be involved in the committee with Terry Potter taking up the reigns of chairman” Dominic Sumpter

''We thought that it would be difficult to match the very positive atmosphere that was apparent at the JD Edwards Conference in 2011 but the 2012 Conference proved that this was not to be the case. We had higher registrations and a packed agenda and the audience heard in the keynotes from Lyle Ekdahl, John Schiff and Dominic Sumpter very positive news on the development and commercial plans for JD Edwards software within Oracle. A large part of this now vibrant community are looking to progress their plans for JD Edwards with renewed confidence and the future for JD Edwards looks extremely bright''  David Rowntree
