UK Oracle User Group

How We Make Friends & Influence People

At work at the IOUC Summit

29 September 2014

At UKOUG we know that one of our key strengths is the diversity of our members, many of whom look to us to directly represent their views to Oracle and other user groups, both in the UK and globally. But how exactly do we do this?

One of the ways we do it is via our membership of the International Oracle User Community(IOUC) – an international user group network made up of three regions – EMEA, APAC & the Americas.

Through our involvement in this forum we’re able to enter into dialogue directly with Oracle executives, which along with our direct channels of communication into Oracle UK, is one way members are able to directly influence product development, support and other important issues.

Every year Oracle hosts the annual IOUC Summit to enable user groups to come together to share information, discussions and best practice. The event moved this year and took place at the weekend, just before Oracle OpenWorld, so user group leaders could also be briefed on the very latest Oracle news.

With more than 900 user groups across the globe, it’s vitally important that UKOUG is a part of this community, not only to learn what other Oracle user groups are doing and share our own experiences, but to ensure we are able to feedback to Oracle on user group strategy.

Your Member Advocate Chair, Fiona Martin, was representing UKOUG at the IOUC summit this year working hard in the activities and workshops. No doubt she will have plenty of ideas to share on her return.
