The polls are closed and the votes have been counted and verified.
In the last two months' members have been voting on who should be the new UKOUG Member Advocate for the next two years. The post, which has been held by Fiona Martin, who was running for re-election, saw a new name in the race to become the new Member Advocate. Brendan Tierney ran against Fiona and is no stranger to UKOUG, he is an active member and big voice in the Ireland OUG community.
During the voting period, the lead changed hands several times, but ultimately once the voting closed on 8 March 2017, there could only be one elected to the role.
We are delighted to welcome Brendan Tierney to the role and we send out our congratulations and we look forward to working alongside Brendan over the coming years'.
I'm honoured to have been elected, excited by the opportunity and looking forward to working with all communities over the next two years".
Just before we look forward, we hope you will join us in passing on a huge thank you to Fiona for her four years as the Member Advocate Chair. Fiona's time in the role has been a huge success and her insight and knowledge have been invaluable throughout her tenure, and we're sure that Fiona will continue to stay an active and engaged UKOUG member.
You will be hearing much more from Brendan over the coming weeks' and months' as he settles into his new role at UKOUG and if you see Brendan at any UKOUG/OUG Ireland events, please make time to speak to him, as we are sure he would value your time and input on all things UKOUG.
Once again Congratulations Brendan.
