Why did over 140 people head to the Park Inn Hotel Heathrow London last week? To attend UKOUG Conference Series PeopleSoft 2011 of course.
This annual two day event pitted against Wimbledon Tennis and Glastonbury traffic took centre stage on the UKOUG calendar for the PeopleSoft community. Delegates were treated to not one but three Oracle executives who had flown in from the States, including Marc Weintraub who had the following to say:
“This is my second time speaking at UKOUG Conference Series PeopleSoft and it’s one of my favourite conferences to attend. It’s both valuable to me in respect of meeting our customers and being able to bring them the latest news on product developments as well having the opportunity to support the UKOUG.” Marc Weintraub, Director, Product Management,Oracle
The PeopleSoft community is well established and networking is one of the highlights of this event with many familiar faces re-establishing business connections alongside the first timers who had had the event recommended to them by colleagues.
“I’m both new to PeopleSoft and UKOUG events and I wanted to say how worthwhile the conference was for me. I came away with a much clearer understanding of new developments in PeopleSoft Financials, I also enjoyed learning from the experiences of others and made some good contacts for the future.” Guy Tabrar, N&S Network Ltd
The 45 session strong agenda appealed to those involved in HCM, Technology and Financials where presentations were delivered by Partners, Oracle and end-users. Delegates saw firsthand PeopleSoft used as never before as the unique self service model which was implemented at Pret A Manger was revealed and got an insight into how the upgrade went over at Bupa.
“We recently embarked on an upgrade at Bupa, so to ensure we had a full understanding of the implications this would entail, we utilised the contacts made through being a UKOUG member to collate a number of their lessons learnt to help with our project. I was able to give back something back to other User Group members by presenting at Conference Series PeopleSoft, so others could hear our story” Chris Livesey, PeopleSoft Support & Development Manager, Bupa
After a full day of presentations delegates were treated to an “Al Forno Trattoria” evening with a chef cooking up Italian delights live in the exhibition hall.
Day two revealed screenshots of the new PeopleSoft search which looked very exciting, and a variety of presentations and roundtables giving the audience a chance to quiz Oracle more thoroughly on the future developments of the product.
Thank you to the PeopleSoft Committee, Oracle, our sponsors and exhibitors and all our delegates for making this event a success.
