ORACLE PEOPLETOOLS 8.54 AVAILABLE

Oracle and the PeopleSoft development team just announced the general availability of Oracle’s PeopleTools 8.54. According to the PeopleSoft Technology blog, “The PeopleTools team is particularly excited about the new PeopleSoft Fluid User Experience. PeopleSoft applications will offer a UI that is simple and intuitive, yet highly productive and that can be used on different devices from laptops to tablets and smart phones.”

USER EXPERIENCE  CONCEPTS

The Applications User Experience (UX) team is constantly researching new technology and trying out ways to apply it to the enterprise application experience. For new content about a demo using Taleo and Google Glass, concepts from the AppsLab team, check out posts Part 1 and Part 2.

To see how the Smart Holster for Law Enforcement works, which is a concept product for public safety officials that Apps UX team members created for the AT&T Developer Summit Hackathon a few months ago, visit the Usable Apps YouTube channel. The Smart Holster combines Google Glass, wearables, the Internet of Things, and other magic into a holistic solution, the AppsLab’s Jake Kuramoto says. The concept is aimed at keeping law enforcement officers safe.

The Applications UX Communications & Outreach team has also been trying out a new concept – putting together themed content using social channel aggregator Storify. You can see our first collection on wearables. Please visit the Usable Apps Storify page and follow us!

New posts from several Applications UX team members on the Usable Apps blog look at user experience features from an academic perspective. Read more on photo sizes in “Portrait of a Technology Artist: Smart Cropping” by Joe Goldberg. Learn about the Oracle Social Network from Julien Laforet, a UX sales ambassador, in “Oracle Social Network: Enabling Employee Engagement with Oracle Cloud Services.” Georgia Price and Karen Scipi, from the Applications UX team, discuss language design in “Designing a Naturally Conversational User Experience for the User Interface.”

ORACLE CUSTOMER PERSPECTIVES

A recently published ebook on simplified UI user experience design patterns from the Applications UX team is gaining its own momentum with endorsements and reposts like this one on the Interactive Media blog.

For a customer perspective on the importance of user experience initiatives such as efficiency and mobility, which are the reason Tesco is implementing Oracle’s cloud-based Fusion Applications, read “Tesco’s Clubcard creators to transform back office with Oracle cloud” on the Computerworld UK website.
