Richard Bedford, UKOUG’s Business Development Manager, has been attending Collaborate 11 in Orlando Florida, where it is a record 92F (too hot).
He has had the opportunity to catch up with some UKOUG Partners who are amongst the 200 exhibitors at the event: including More4Apps, Whitehouse Consultants / ARCTools, VMware, SYSTIME, Magic Software, Hexaware, EiS Technologies, 2e2, Embarcadero, Deloitte, CedarCrestone, Cashbook and Informatica.
Richard has also been delighted to meet with Sally Hicks from Noetix, where they spoke about what else UKOUG can offer Noetix in the way of routes into the market, over and above the SIGs and Conferences, and has also spoken with ONE Infotech, Edict Systems, Cronin Business Solutions, Circular Edge, Mercury Technology Group, Global Consulting Solutions, InOne Europe AG, Kapow Software and Texas Memory Systems.
OAUG is offering Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings and other networking opportunities throughout COLLABORATE11. On Tuesday morning Richard sat in on an Exadata SIG meeting with Bank of America speaking about their experience with the technology. Bank of America have over 280,000 employees, 85,000 of whom work in Technology & Operations, which means they are the same ‘size’ as Oracle themselves! It’s apparent that Exadata technology is going to fly. Presently they have 450 global customers for Exadata, but they expect this number to quadruple in 2011 alone. More reason for UKOUG to push more Exadata.
More news from tomorrow....
