Stream by stream. The agenda of this year’s UKOUG Technology conference is coming together.
On Monday 1st July 2013 the Tech13 committee and UKOUG staff joined together at Oracle offices in Reading for the first ever Tech13 Agenda Planning Day.
The new conference is taking place at the beginning of December and is purely devoted to Oracle Technology users.
After an outstanding call for papers response - 545 papers all in! - the abstracts were reviewed by judges and there were some tough decisions made in order to create a new and exciting agenda.
“Great to see so many people submitting papers. It has been extremly hard to select the best ones as all the abstracts are of a very high quality.” Andrew Archibald, APEX SIG
As you would expect, Tech13 will offer 3.5 days of world-class technical education for IT professionals and practitioners. There will be 10 streams filled with: technical talks, roundtables for hands-on learning, deep product exploration, and countless opportunities to build relationships with a community of Oracle experts and peers.
What presentations made their way to the agenda?
The aim was to create an agenda that will appeal to both those looking at it from a product perspective to those that are approaching it from their daily role and bring it all together in order to make this conference a must attend event for anyone who is working in the Technology world of Oracle.
The committee were split into different product streams according to which area they were specialised in. It was important for the committee members to:
- Take the results from the online judging
- Make sure attendees with different skill levels have sessions of interest in each area
- Have a good variety of presenters ranging from end users who have a story to share, through to high level industry experts and Partner solutions
- Work out the ‘flow’ of the sessions whilst making sure that there are no clashes
"The Database stream will have some great content. Last year it was all about – what’s coming? This year – there will be some excellent demonstrations, and it's a great chance for delegates to ask questions about different features." Joel Goodman, Oracle
“I’m very excited about Tech13 - many great speakers and interesting sessions. I will certainly learn something myself!” Jason Arneil, e-DBA (Engineered Systems)
As you can see putting together our first Technology Conference agenda really is down to the efforts of our members. Thank you all!
Please note - If you have submitted a paper for this conference, you will be notified if your paper has been selected by August.
